Why this site exists

Too much technology advice is confusing, condescending, or built to sell people things they do not need.

TechMadeSimple is here for the person who just wants the thing to work. Clear steps, plain English, and recommendations that respect both safety and independence.

Who this is for

This site is for older adults who want technology to help without turning every little thing into a project. It is also for adult children, spouses, and caregivers who are trying to help without taking over.

What you will find here

You will find guides and walkthroughs for ordinary problems: making a phone easier to see, setting up emergency contacts, choosing a medical alert system, comparing video doorbells, and avoiding gadgets that create more hassle than help.

Our filter
If something is complicated, overpriced, pushy, or built around fear, it is probably not a good fit for this site.

How we choose what to recommend

We start with the real problem, not the flashiest feature list. Then we look at setup, ease of use, reliability, ongoing costs, return policies, support, and whether the company treats older customers with basic respect.

We pay attention to negative reviews, hidden fees, setup friction, and the little annoyances that make a product end up abandoned in a drawer.

If nothing is good enough, we say so.

A practical note

Technology can help, but it is not a magic force field. For medical, legal, financial, or serious safety decisions, talk to the appropriate professional. My goal here is to help you understand the tools clearly enough to make better decisions.

About affiliate links

Some links on this site are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, TechMadeSimple may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

The recommendation comes first. The link comes second.

Who is behind TechMadeSimple

I'm Trev, the person behind the site.

I have spent 30 years building technology systems for real people, including systems where reliability, clarity, and small details matter. I have also watched people I care about struggle with technology that was supposed to make life easier.

That combination is why this site is practical first: fewer buzzwords, fewer miracle claims, and more “can someone actually use this on a Tuesday afternoon?”

A quick promise
You are not going to find condescending “just ask your grandkids” energy here. Older adults deserve better than that.
